Stephen E. Riffee

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer


Stephen E. RiffeeStephen E. Riffee is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT). In this role he oversees all financial functions of the company including Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Tax, Treasury, Capital Markets and Investor Relations. Additionally, Steve is the executive that oversees the legal department, Information Technology and data center business of the company.

Steve has 31 years of financial leadership experience. Prior to joining COPT in 2006, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for CarrAmerica Realty Corporation, a national NYSE public office REIT. At CarrAmerica, he developed one of the industry's leading financial and IT teams, successfully implementing technology and processes to improve the efficiency and profitability of the company. He also improved the planning and capital markets capabilities of the company.

Previously, Steve was the Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer responsible for accounting worldwide for Marriott International. At Marriott, his team successfully helped execute acquisitions of Ritz Carlton, Renaissance and other Asian and European brands as well as the $2 billion spin-off of its food services operations to Sodexho. The team also implemented and upgraded all of Marriott's financial systems to be Y2K and Euro compliant. Prior to serving at Marriott, Steve was an officer at Burlington Northern Railroad. Steve passed the Uniform CPA exam in Virginia and practiced as a CPA joining Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co. in Philadelphia in 1980. He practiced as a CPA for KPMG Peat Marwick for many years in three offices of the firm and was a leader of the National Transportation Practice of the firm from 1983 to 1991.

Steve graduated with distinction from the McIntire School of Commerce of the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce.
