Randall M. Griffin
is CEO of Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT).
He was elected as Trustee in February 2005. He served as President and CEO from
April 2005 until September 2010 and served as President and Chief Operating
Officer from September 1998 to March 2005. From 1993 to 1998, he was President of Constellation Real Estate Group until its merger into COPT.
Rand
's work experience includes 37 years of proven experience in the creation of real estate value through direct responsibilities in management, development, acquisitions, marketing and finance.
Prior to joining Constellation Real Estate Group, he directed development for more than $5 billion of real estate assets, representing more than 12 million square feet of office, retail and industrial/design build space, 5,600 hotel rooms and more than 4,000 housing units. He has also been responsible for over $2 billion of acquisitions, including land, retail, office and industrial buildings.
From 1990-1993, Rand was Vice President of Development for EuroDisney Development in
Paris,
France, where he managed and directed all non-theme park development for the 5,000-acre project. Phase I entailed the construction of nine separate projects totaling $1.5 billion of construction—including 5,200 hotel rooms, a 200,000 square foot entertainment complex, a 600 unit campground and village, a 27-hole golf course and various residential and support projects. Phase II included $1.2 billion of development.
He was also responsible for all Disney Company real estate in 42 locations throughout
Europe.
Rand
was formerly Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Linclay Corporation, a Midwest-based real estate firm active in urban and suburban commercial office, retail and industrial development, asset management and investment. From 1976-1990, he was responsible for the development of 66+ projects, and the acquisition and asset management functions of more than 20 million square feet of space. At Linclay, he supervised six divisions representing more than $1 billion of assets.
Rand is on the Board of Directors of The National Aquarium in
Baltimore and serves on its Executive Committee, the National Aquarium Society Board in
Washington,
DC, the Center for Aquatic Life and Conservation Board and the National Aquarium Conservation Center Board. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Greater Washington Initiative, the Board of Directors of the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education, the BWI Business Partnership, the Board of Governors of NAREIT, the Board of Visitors of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, the Maryland Commission on Public Art and is Chair of the Maryland 9/11 Memorial Advisory Committee. His professional affiliations include Urban Land Institute, NAIOP and NAREIT.
Rand earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from
Ohio
Wesleyan
University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from
Harvard
Business
School. Rand served as 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army and served in
Vietnam as an advisor to a Special Forces Vietnamese Unit.
